Everyone has a great sledding story, don’t they? Growing up in the foothills of the Adirondack mountains with a lot of snow and big hills in my neighborhood, it was a frequent after school activity. Even when I was a older, there were late night sledding expeditions at the St. Bonaventure University golf course, and even a few trips down one of the runs at Killington.

On February 12th you can have the opportunity to help make a memory for the kids from Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home in Fort Mitchell, KY. Come out and share some pizza and go tubing with the kids. There will be abundance of baked goods and hot chocolate to help warm up afterwards. Kids usually arrive around 4:30pm and stay until approximately 7:30. Yes, work gets in the way. Show up late, there will still be plenty of food and tubing. Bring your families along. We will reserve February 19 and 26 as rain dates.

The Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home, or DCCH, is the only long-term residential facilities for children who have been removed from their families as the result of neglect or abuse in Kentucky. Although it is a Catholic faith-based effort, of course it is open to children who are not Catholic. Their budget does not allow for the home to provide recreational activities like an evening at Perfect North. This is an opportunity for the ski patrol to let these kids be kids.

We need your help. We need 200 or so points to get tickets for the kids. If you are willing to donate 10 points, please let me know. All of the pizza and beverages we purchase gets expensive so a few dollars will be a big help. Most importantly we need patrollers to come out and enjoy the evening with the kids. Please let me know if you can help out.
