The Mountain Travel and Rescue (MTR) courses are electives for the Senior Program. These events are a good way to learn wilderness survival skills and enhance your knowledge of outdoor travel and rescue. Travel and Rescue II is scheduled at Lake Hope November 9-11, 2018.

To sign up for MTR course please register on both the NSP.org and the Ohio Region websites. The course numbers are MTR I course # C119180005 and MTR II course # C11919180006. The prerequisites for the courses are the FEMA courses IS 100,700 and 200. MTR I is a prerequisite for MTR II.

MTR I course offers hands on practice and basic techniques in wilderness navigation, mountain travel, and survival, including emergency shelters, the Incident Command System, group dynamics, and SAR.

MTR 2 course offers at least two days and night field session of in-depth practice in land navigation, search and rescue, rescue rigging, survival skills and emergency shelters.
